Twin Bee and Win Bee are back in this colorful and cute vertical shooter by Konami. The Mad scientist wants to take over the world and two pilots are called to the rescue, Pastel and Light, to fly their cute flying ships again. They start with a single vulcan gun but colored bells hidden in floating and smiling clouds will upgrade this weapon. Those bells will reveal power-ups if shot enough times, from flying options to big-beam lasers, three-shots and shields. They can also drop bomb on the ground with their little arms ( did I forget to mention that they have cute little arms and legs ? ). The game counts seven long stages and a powerful boss at the end of each of them. A two players mode is also available and can add a lot of fun to the experience. Players can grab and throw each other all over the screen. This game is a sequel to the original arcade game Detana! Twinbee, itself sequel of Twinbee.

Some people may argue about this, but Konami's Pop'n TwinBee series of shooters are magnificent. Original, technically without flaws (even if showing some bad slowdowns), gorgeous and cute graphics and catching music tunes. Some players argue that Pop'n TwinBee is a game for 'beginners', or too 'girly'. But I do not share their feelings and this series ( like Konami's other crazy horizontal shooter Parodius ) have always been a breath of fresh air to the shooter genre. You will either love it, or hate it. But I definitively fall in the first category and this Super Famicom version is great.
