Panel de Pon is a Tetris like puzzle game by Nintendo.
The land of the fairies is at risk. The evil Thanatos has doomed the country
and used his dark magic to turn all the nice fairies into evils spirits.
Lip, the heroine of the game, must defeat all her fairy friends and
rescue them from the evil grips of Thanatos... and maybe discover
what is really going on in fairy land. Like any other game of the genre,
the task at hand is to cleanup the playfield area from all tiles. To do so,
the player moves a cursor around and can swap the tiles located right
beneath it. Three or more identical tiles will disappear when vertically or
horizontally aligned. Special combos and chain reactions can
be triggered and award the player with points accordingly. Several
playing modes are of course available : solo, two players, versus, puzzle,
time attack etc...

Interestingly, Panel de Pon was released in the rest of the
world as Tetris Attack and featured Nintendo's
characters from Super Mario World 2 : Yoshi's Insland.
Bowser is back and has brainwashed Yoshi's friends,
including Mario himself. Yoshi, in the same way Lip did for her fairy friends,
must defeat all his fellow friends and restore their original personalities.
Unlike the cute fairies and magical animals of Panel De Pon (Lip, Windy, Shyabetto, Thiana, Ruby,
Elias, Flare, Nerisu, Seren, Phoenix and Dragon),
Tetris Attack features instead Yoshi, Lakitu, Bumpy, Poochy,
Flying Wiggler, Froggy, Gargantua Blargg,
Lunge Fish, Raphael Raven, Hookbill Koopa,
Piranha Plant, Kamek and Bowser.
Tetris Attack counts also more stages and remixed music tracks.

Panel De Pon is an extremely addictive puzzle game with
a solid and magnificent gameplay, excellent graphics and musics.
Like any great puzzle game, rules are ridiculously simple but take
time and practice to perfectly master. They get the player to trigger
amazing chain reactions and combos. For obvious marketing reasons,
the game was Mario-tetris-ized for the rest of the world.
Despire more features and stages, I personnaly prefer the Japanese
version. But all in all both versions are great and offer some of
the best Tetris-like action ever made. I recommend it
