Choujikuu Yousai Macross is a horizontal shooter by Zamuse and it is based
on the famous animation series and comic books Macross (Robotech in the west).
The player can incarnate here three different pilots and control their
corresponding fighters : Hikaru,
Max or Milia.
Each Valkyrie fighter has its own weaponary and all of them can switch from
three different fighting modes: Fighter, Gerwalk and Battroid.
It is up to the player to find the right balance as all three
modes are available at any time during the game, and this to
survire to the intense seven stages. Each weapon
can also be upgrated up to three times, but watch out not to get hit
as you will automatically lose one level. The last feature, and not
the least, is the possiblitity to capture
enemy ships ( feature similar to the one found in the brilliant
G-Darius by Taito ) . If you do not shoot, a yellow
force field should build up around your ship and if an enemy
touches it, it will join you. Really big ships, like
bosses can not obviously be captured.
