The King Of Dragons is a side scrolling Beat'm up and is
one of Capcom's long series of games that flooded the arcades back
in the 1990s. One originality of the title though is to take place in
a fantasy world of warriors and dragons. The world is devastated by a
red and ferocious dragon. and the game spreads along no less than
fifteen stages. Five playable characters are available from the start :
the strong warrior, the cleric, the magical wizard, the light elf and
the heavy dwarf. Obviously, each character has its own strong points
and weaknesses. They can also receive upgrades during the game in the
shape or new weapons, shields or new staffs but also level-up and increase
their life bar. Fantasy world wouldn't be complete without magic,
and magic there is. Simple lighting attacks can be triggered by any player.
It is interesting to notice that a two simultaneous player option is
also available.

The King Of Dragons definitively looks aged. I have great
souvenirs of this title and especially the arcade game. I do not
mean the game is bad, far from it. Graphically speaking, the game
is correct, yet I would have expected a better choice of palette.
I especially hate the flashing letters that appear at the end of
every stage. All in all, there is nothing ground breaking here but
the Capcom's touch is definitively present. The King Of Dragons
is a solid title but there is something missing to my taste and I can
not really put my finger on it.
