Hello ! Pacman is an interesting action/adventure game bu Namco.
The Pac Man family, including the cute Pac-Man baby are
quietly resting at home and enjoy they everydays life. Unlike other games
of the famous franchise, Hello ! Pacman is in fact based around the
animation series aired in the 90s and most of the colourful places visited
during the game are directly borrowed from it. Interestingly, the player doesn't
directly control Pac Man, but instead influences his decision-making
and watches out for him. A slingshot can be used to hit anything on the screen
(including Pac Man himself) and call his attention. Another action can
get the player to shout at our hero and tell him to look at something, or in
a specific direction. This is especially usefull if Pac Man has decided
to wonder around and starts walking in the wrong direction. Pac Man's
mood is also important and should be taken care of. Finally, and not the
least, a limited amount of power-pellets can be thrown at him and
turn Pac-Man into a Super Pac-Man. But those should only be
used in case of emergency, and especially during ghost attacks. The
game counts four different quests, tons of mini-games, side quests (such
as the game cartriges which unlocks the original Ms PacMan game)
and other original features.

Hello ! Pacman reminds me of Wonder Project-J in many ways.
Pac Man definitively shares, at least in this game, a lot in common
with Pino. The same sort of what we could call... "funny dumbness".
Pac Man has his special way of dealing with things, where Pino would
just naively react to any situation (by usualling eating any object handed to him),
Pac Man simply gets scared, and often in a funny way. The game is packed with
tons of small animations and detailed scenes, and they often are just there to entertain
the player and are not related in any way to our hero's quest. But all of this has a
price to pay and the game is relatively short. The game was released outside of Japan
and I'm still amazed about this, I only wished Wonder Project J had followed
the same path. Anyway, Hello ! Pacman is a wonderful game, addicting and way
too fun to miss.
