Hagane is an intense ninja-action platform game by Red and published by Hudson Soft.
The background of Hagane seems to be placed in a futuristic world highly
inspired by the Feudal Japan. Your character, a sort of futuristic Ninja, can
use four different weapons. The Sword and the throwing chain have an unlimited
amount of ammunition and can be used at any time. The explosive and the throwing
knives, however, come in limited amount but more can be picked up from dead
enemies. Numerous special attacks are also available. Other special moves
can be triggered by using the shoulder buttons. Armies of other armored and
cyber ninjas will try to stop you at an incredile pace.

Hagane somehow slipped though the cracks of popularity. The graphics are
amazingly detailed and the action incredibly intense. My only problem with this
game is its difficulty level. There is not learning curve, the player is straigth
on face to his crual destiny. The gameplay is also highly based on what weapon
to use, what attack to trigger, and when. All of this makes it a really hard and
unfair experience at first. But past this fustration, Hagane is a delight,
offering beautifully laid out stages and gorgeous graphics and animations.
