Fighting game

Cho Aniki was originally released for the first time for the PC Engine system in 1992. Even if the cast of characters is the same, the game type has changed and this version is not a shooter, but rather a fighting game. Therefore our bald friends, Ideran and Beran, are back and will personnally be dealing with the baddies, in one-on-one fights. Except for this change in the game's design, all the Cho Aniki ingredients are reunited here : men showing off their huge muscles and their little clothing, and weird but truely amazing mechanical designs. Other characters from the original game as also playable, and it is interesting to notice the introduction of female fighters. All in all, eight characters are selectable. Another great originality of the game is the way how fighters move around in thin air and are completely airborne. This is an unusual feature for a fighting game only seen in more recent titles such as Sunsoft's excellent Astra Stuperstars.

Here we go again. Cho Aniki is back, but as a fighting game this time. Graphics, as usual, are magnificent and detailed. The game content is also the same with oiled muscled men and weird stuff all over the place. Sadly, if the old PC Engine games were competent shooters, this fighting game lacks some important ingredients : it is sadly repetitive and the action is smooth but somehow slow. It is a shame to read so many reviews freaking out on the game's content itself without knowing anything about the game's history. Ideran and Beran are the flying options from the first Cho Aniki game and most of the characters here are bosses from the original games. The content is indeed weird but far from pornographic as some people describe it.
